About Andrew J. Petersen

Since 1995, Andrew’s practice has emphasized civil defense litigation, primarily in the areas of insurance, municipal and civil rights defense, professional malpractice, contracts and indemnification, and appellate litigation. He has represented both insurers and insureds at trial in significant bad faith cases. He has also represented clients in significant appellate court cases in both the state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.

Andrew has published several articles on legal issues including an annotation on constitutional tort claims. He served on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel from 2003 to 2010, serving as President and receiving the Defense Research Institute Exceptional Performance Citation in 2009. Additionally, he has authored and appeared as amicus counsel for the AADC and the Tucson Defense Bar in important cases pending before the Arizona Supreme Court. He is the recipient of a Special Recognition Award from the AADC for contributions to the amicus brief program.

Andrew earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995, and graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Arizona with a degree in English and Political Science in 1992.

Andrew is admitted to the Arizona State and Federal Bars, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has been AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 2005. He is a member of Arizona’s Finest Lawyers.
